wIn 2015, a short film by Laps in Judgement Studios, in association with Sagamok Anishnabek, Western Door Productions, Fort Road Productions, Lesley Piche, and Alex Broughton was created. Intended to be an opening scene in a feature film, the larger project was well received but was not developed.
The short film was featured in fifteen international film festivals, was nominated for four awards, and won twice. Now, six years later, REZilience is coming back as a full length podcast horror drama serial and we need your help! To ensure that the story is sound, is not culturally appropriating, and is done with the utmost respect, director Jayson Stewart is assembling an advisory panel of TWENTY Indigenous folks from all walks of life to read and comment on the script. Your role would be to read the script and find the errors and the inaccuracies but, most importantly, to find problems with how the story and characters represent Indigenous life, even in a fictional story. As the story touches upon colonization, genocide, residential schools, language loss, addiction, and poverty as well as the beauty and truth of traditional teachings, the importance of the land, the strength of family, and the power of people to battle the injustices of the past and present, we must get it right. If you are Indigenous we would love to hear from you. Please complete this form to be considered for membership on this panel. |
